The mark of the beast is probably one of few Bible topics that the whole world knows about, and yet there are so few people who actually know the truth about what the mark of the beast actually is. Some believe it's the number 666. Some believe it's a tattoo. With the majority believing it's some kind of physical mark like a microchip. And why do the majority believe it's a physical mark? Because the word "mark" in Revelation 13 actually means a mark! But this is flawed logic.

So let's look at this logic for a brief moment to show how it is flawed. In Revelation 13 it also mentions two beasts that cause the world to worship them. Now if you look at the original meaning of these beasts, you will see that they are actual beasts. Also, in Revelation 17 we find a harlot woman riding a beast, and if you take a look at the original meaning, again you will see that it is an actual woman riding a wild beast. So can we now expect to see wild beasts roaming the earth causing the world to worship them? And can we expect to see a prostitute woman riding a wild beast too, seducing the "kings of the earth" into giving her their support? Well, if this was a Hollywood film, then maybe, but this is real life and we know this isn't going to be the case.

The thing is, the book of Revelation is full of symbolic language, and we cannot just accept the literal meaning of all the words found in that book. This also applies to the mark of the beast. Just because the word mark means a literal mark, doesn't mean the mark in real life will be a literal physical mark. So instead of just guessing what the mark of the beast is, we must use the Bible to interpret itself and let it explain what the mark is.

So what is the mark of the beast? Let us first confirm that we firmly believe the beast mark cannot be just a physical mark like a microchip or tattoo or ID card. Why? There are a couple of big problems with this belief. First, in Revelation 13:14 it says that "deception" is involved in this issue.

Revelation 13:14 ...'And deceived them that dwell on the earth by the mean of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast.'

Now where is the deception in forcing people to take a physical mark like a microchip? Satan is the arch deceiver and he is not just going to force people to take a physical mark. There is no deception in that whatsoever. And that is not how Satan works. The next problem with this belief of the mark of the beast being something like a microchip is the fact that any government could force a microchip or ID card or tattoo upon us. And we cannot be lost for something that is forced upon us. Now don't get me wrong. I do believe some kind of technology like a bank card or ID card will be used in association with the mark of the beast to stop those who refuse the mark from buying and selling. But in of itself, technology or any physical mark cannot be the mark of the beast. So what is the mark? Revelation 14 gives us a clue.

Revelation 14:12 ...'Here is the patience of the saints. Here are they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.'

Now right before this verse, the third angel explains that those who do take the mark of the beast will receive the full wrath of God. Which means the verse above is telling us about those who don't take the mark. And what are they doing? They are keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ. So the mark of the beast is in some way connected to the commandments of God. Which makes sense, as this issue is all to do with worship and obedience. Look at what it also says in Revelation 14.

Revelation 14:9 ...'And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice. If any man WORSHIP the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in in hand ....'

Do you see? The issue of the mark of the beast is to do with WORSHIP! Somehow, Satan is going to deceive the world into giving their allegiance to the beast and it's image and they will end up spiritually worshipping and obeying the beast instead of worshipping and obeying God. But God's end time saints will be faithful to Christ Jesus and will know the truth, and will continue to obey God and keep His commandments.

What was it that the deceivers used to get Daniel thrown into the Lions den? ... Daniel 6:5 ...'Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God' ... Knowing that Daniel would be faithful to the law of God, these deceivers caused the king to institute a secular law which would go against one of God's commandments. In the same way, the beast kingdom will institute a law (mark of the beast) which will be in opposition to the commandments of God, and will be used to condemn God's people in the end.

So can we pinpoint exactly what the mark of the beast is? Yes. But first we need to find out who the beast of Revelation 13 is, to know what it's mark is. If you do not know who the beast is, then please follow the link above to find out.

From the resources above, you will find out that the sea beast of Revelation 13 is the Papal Church of Rome. Which means the mark of the beast is in fact that mark of the Roman Catholic Church. So has the Roman Catholic Church done anything in connection with the commandments of God that could be regarded as her "mark"? Yes, and this was prophesied to happen in the book of Daniel with the little horn power which again is the Papal Church of Rome.

Daniel 7:25 ...'And he [the little horn] shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws.'

So the Roman Catholic Church would think to change "time" and the law of God. Did they ever do this? Yes. If you take a look at the Roman Catholic Ten Commandments, you will see that they have made changes to the commandments of God (think to change law). And the Roman Catholic Church boast that it is they who changed the weekly sabbath day from the 7th day to the 1st (think to change time), of which there is no Biblical authority for any such change. Take a look at the following quotes with regards to this sabbath "change".

"By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of ... Because by keeping Sunday they acknowledge the church's [Roman Catholic] power to ordain feasts, and to command them under sin." (Abridgement of Christian Doctrine, page 58)

"Of course the change (from Sabbath to Sunday) was her act .... and the act is a MARK of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters." (signed by H.F.Thomas, Chancellor for Cardinal Gibbons, in a letter dated Nov. 11, 1895)

"The church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact." (Catholic record of London, Ontario, Sept. 1, 1923)

"Not the Creator of Universe, in Genesis 2:1-3, but the Catholic Church can claim the honor of having granted man a pause to his work every seven days." (S. C. Mosna, Storia della Domenica, 1969, pp. 366-367)

"Is not yet too late for Protestants to redeem themselves. Will they do it? ... will they indeed take the written word only, the Scripture alone, as their sole authority and their sole standard? Or will they still hold the indefensible, self contradictory, and suicidal doctrine and practice of following the authority of the Catholic church and wear the SIGN [MARK] of her authority? Will they keep the Sabbath of the Lord, the seventh day, according to Scripture? Or will they keep the Sunday according to the tradition of the Catholic church." (Ibid, page 31)

So the Roman Catholic Church (little horn of Daniel 7) is guilty of changing the law of God. The very commandments that the saints of Revelation 14:12 are keeping which stops them from receiving the mark of the beast. And remember, the issue of the mark of the beast is all to do with worship and obedience. Will we worship and obey the beast and receive it's mark, or worship and obey God? Don't think that you will need to get down on your knees to worship the beast. All you will need to do is give allegiance to the beast and accept it's authority over God, and this would be deemed as worship.

So is the mark of the beast to do with Sunday worship? Yes, but not yet, as Sunday has not yet been enforced as a day of rest yet. But the Roman Catholic Church, along with many other churches and institutions, including trade unions, are now actively pushing for a Sunday law to be enforced as a national and international day of rest. And this is in direct opposition to the sabbath rest that God instituted during creation week. And this places the authority of the Roman Catholic Church above the authority of our Heavenly Father. Which of course is an abomination!

The 4th commandment concerning the seventh day sabbath is the ONLY commandment that tells us who it is we worship. It tells us that we worship the Creator of heaven and earth. It is the central commandment that connects God with mankind, and it contains the seal of God of which the end time saints receive. So anyone who accepts the Sunday law that is going to be enforced will be giving their allegiance and worship to the beast (Roman Catholic Church) instead of God. Then they will be marked (spiritually) with the mark of the beast, either in their forehead, or in their hand. The forehead represents the group of people who freely make their decision in their minds and give their loyalty to the beast, ie., professing Christians who accept the "authority" of the Roman Catholic Church. The hand represents the group of people who just go along with it because of economic pressure, and their actions are in accordance with the mark of the beast, ie., non believers. Which is why it says they get the mark in their foreheads OR their hand.

What about the number of the beast 666? Many people think that the mark of the beast is simply the number 666. Some people won't go anywhere near or touch anything with the numbers 666 on them. Like a barcode, or date, or telephone number, or licence plate. And yet Revelation is very clear in stating that the mark of the beast is NOT 666. The number 666 is the number of the beast, not the mark of the beast.

Revelation 13:17-18 ...'And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, OR the name of the beast, OR the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast; for it is the number of a man, and his number is six hundred threescore and six.'

So as we can see, the number of the beast 666 is not the actual mark of the beast. It is the number of a man within this beast kingdom. This number has been given to us in the Word of God in order for us to further identify the beast system, and the leader of that beast system.

It is also interesting that it states people will either get the mark of the beast OR the name of the beast OR the number of his name. This would suggest that ANY affiliation with the beast (Papal Church of Rome) or the image of the beast would be deemed as going against God. And Revelation 14:11 confirms this by pronouncing judgment upon those who "worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."

Warning! The ecumenical movement is uniting the churches with Rome!

We can also see from Revelation 13:17-18 above that the number 666 is NOT just three digits that could appear on a barcode or tattoo or whatever. These Bible verses tell us that 666 is an actual number that needs to be calculated. So it isn't just three digits. It is a real number that needs to be added up, and we need "wisdom" in order to arrive at the number.

Does this number match the Roman Catholic Church? Yes! The Popes of the Roman Catholic Church have previously been given the title "VICARIUS FILII DEI", which means "Vicar of the Son of God". Take a look at the follow quote from a Catholic Answers Website in 2011:

"Question: Vicarius Filii Dei? What does this mean? Is it a phrase referring to the pope or priest? I have heard that it is inscribed on the pope's hat, or something. Just curious to know what is it."
Answer: (From father Reginald Martin) ... "Vicarius Filii Dei means Vicar [or representative] of the Son of God, a term scholars believe first appears in a document known as the Donation of Constantine, dated to the eight or ninth century. This is an apt description of the Pope, who is frequently referred to as the Vicar of Christ, and, at present, probably only the most bitterly anti-Catholic individuals would take offense at the title." Now if you convert the name "Vicarius Filii Dei" into Roman numerals, and add them up, you will come to 666. This is the number of the beast and more specifically, the number of A MAN!

The Sunday law is really being pushed now, and if you take a look at the Sunday law news page, you will see that it is a worldwide issue, that is being received with open arms by the majority of professing Christians. Why? Because they have been DECEIVED into thinking that the seventh day sabbath has either been abolished, or has been replaced with the Sunday sabbath, which is the mark of Rome!

If you accept the Sunday law that will be enforced one day soon, or you remain affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church and the other fallen churches in this ecumenical movement, then you will be giving your allegiance and worship to the beast or his image. Please heed the warning from the third angel of Revelation 14 ...

Revelation 14:9-11 ...'And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.'

Please find out the truth about the bible sabbath, and do not receive the mark of the beast. Instead, be one of the end time saints by keeping the commandments of God (including the sabbath commandment) and the faith of Jesus Christ.
