BIBLE VERSES ON THE TOPIC OF DYING TO SELF AND THE WORLD, BEING CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST

John 17:16 ...'They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.'

Galatians 2:20 ...'I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.'

Galatians 5:24 ...'And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.'

Galatians 6:14 ...'But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.'

If we truly are the people of God, followers of His Son Jesus Christ, then the world by Him would be crucified unto us and we would reveal this in our daily lives.

Romans 6:1-19 ...'What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.'

1 Peter 2:24 ...'Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.'

2 Timothy 2:11 ...'It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him.'

Colossians 3:3 ...'For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.'

1 Corinthians 15:31 ...'I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.'

Romans 8:13 ...'For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.'

Romans 12:1 ...'I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.'

Ephesians 4:21-24 ...'If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.'

2 Corinthians 5:17 ...'Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.'

Matthew 16:24 ...'Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.'

1 Peter 4:1-2 ...'Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.'

Colossians 3:5 ...'Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.'

The counsel is clear. We are to die to self, die to the world, crucifying the sinful flesh with its lusts and LIVE IN CHRIST, as a new creation, unto holiness and righteousness. I pray each of us will experience this in our lives as we surrender to Jesus each and every day, allowing Him to cleanse us of all defilement.
