ETERNAL HELL FIRE TEACHING PROVEN FALSE BY THE THIRD ANGEL'S MESSAGE OF REVELATION 14

There is one particular teaching in Christendom that is the most evil teaching from the Devil himself, and that is the teaching that God is going to burn the lost for all eternity in hell fire. This teaching has made many an atheist because it disfigures the true loving character of God. But on this page we are going to prove that this teaching is indeed a false teaching. One particular verse is found in the third angel's message of Revelation 14:

Revelation 14:10-11 ...'The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.'

Now the part that eternal hell fire advocates focus on is the part that says "the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night." They read this verse and say, "see, the wicked burn forever and ever." But what they fail to do is read the context of these verses which prove their belief of eternal hell to be false. Let's look at the context again:

"he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night."

Friend, have a REALLY good think about this! If these verses are telling us that the lost burn in hell fire for all eternity, then who also is in hell with them? Jesus Christ and His angels! Do you see this? We are told that the lost burn in fire and brimstone IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS AND THE LAMB (CHRIST). So if the lost are literally burning for all eternity, then they are burning for eternity in the presence of Christ and the angels just as the verse says in context.

If this is true then Christ and the angels must also be in hell for all eternity! What an abominable teaching!

Thankfully we know this is not the case, because Jesus and the holy angels are going to be in 'paradise' with the redeemed for all eternity. Look at what Jesus said:

Luke 23:42-43 ...'And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee Today, shalt thou be with me in paradise.'

John 14:2-3 ...'In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.'

But wait! According to those who believe in the eternal hell fire teaching and Revelation 14:10, Jesus is in the presence of the wicked burning for all eternity in hell! Do you see the problem?

So how can we reconcile this issue? What does it really mean that the lost who worship the beast will be tormented in fire and brimstone forever and ever? Well, to begin with, if we look at the original Greek for the word 'forever', it simply means for "an unbroken age." It doesn't necessarily mean for all eternity. For instance, when the Bible talks definitely about eternity, it uses words like "everlasting", just as Jesus said regarding the redeemed in John 3:16. They would have 'everlasting life' through Christ, whereas the lost would perish, meaning they would come to an end. So let us look at another instance of the word 'forever' being used:

1 Samuel 1:22 ...'But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the Lord, and there abide for ever.'

This is the story of Hannah pledging her son Samuel to the service of God in the temple, and look at what she says - that Samuel would abide in the temple before the Lord FOREVER. Clearly, anyone can see that this doesn't mean a literal eternity, as Samuel could only serve God in His temple as long as he lived. And the Bible even confirms this fact, look:

1 Samuel 1:11 ...'And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.'

Do you see? The word 'forever' simply meant for as long as Samuel lived, and this is exactly what it means in Revelation 14. The lost will burn in the final lake of fire for as long as they live and once the fires have done their job of destroying the wicked, they will perish, just as Jesus said in John 3:16 and cease to exist. And this leads to the question of WHERE will 'hell' be? Again, the Bible gives us a clear answer to this:

Revelation 20:9-10 ...'And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.'

Isaiah 34:1-2,8-10 ...'Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. For the indignation of the Lord is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion. And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.'

Do you see? Where will 'hell' be? Where are the lost burned in the fire? ON EARTH. It will be on earth where the Lord will destroy the wicked in the lake of fire. But will the wicked burn in the fires of hell for a literal eternity? No, because the Bible says in Revelation 21:5 and 2 Peter 3:13 that the earth is going to be renewed, wherein only the righteous will dwell. But it says in Revelation 20:10 that Satan will be 'tormented day and night for ever and ever.' This is exactly the same as Revelation 14:10-11 which we dealt with at the beginning of this study regarding those who worship the beast. The words forever and ever simply mean an unbroken age, UNTIL they cease to exist. The fires will continue to burn until it has burned up the wicked and even Satan himself. Yes even Satan himself will be burned up and cease to exist. Look at what Ezekiel says about the devil at his destruction:

Ezekiel 28:18-19 ...'Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth IN THE SIGHT of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.'

Do you see? This is a prophecy against Satan and it says he will be brought to ashes IN OUR SIGHT and that he shall never be any more. Did you catch that? Satan is destroyed IN OUR SIGHT! Just as the wicked are burned and destroyed 'in the sight of the angels and Christ.' It is done ON EARTH before God renews the earth.

Malachi 4:1 ...'For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.'

Are we going to watch Satan and the wicked burn for all eternity? No, never! That could NEVER be paradise. They are destroyed by the final fire in our sight until they cease to exist. And as Malachi 4 above confirms, they are burned up leaving them neither root nor branch, and what happens if you have neither root nor branch left? Well, want happens to a plant if you destroy the root? There is nothing left. The same will happen with the wicked and even Satan himself. They will be completely destroyed and cease to exist!

Friends, the eternal hell fire teaching is a false teaching and an evil one at that. It does great damage to the character of God, making people believe that God is going to torture people for all eternity in fire for just a few years lived on earth in a fallen, sinful nature that is prone to sin. Just think about that for a moment. For living just a few decades in sin, God is supposed to torture the lost for millions upon millions upon millions of years! What insanity! What evil! But as we have proven in the third angel's message and the rest of the Bible, this is NOT the case, otherwise Jesus and the holy angels would also have to spend eternity in hell, according to Revelation 14:10-11. But praise the Lord, this is not the case. Yes, Jesus and the holy angels will see the wicked judged in the lake of fire ON EARTH, but the fire will destroy the wicked and even Satan himself. Then they will cease to exist and God will renew the earth for the righteous to dwell in for all eternity in peace and happiness.

2 Peter 3:10,13 ...'But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up ... Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.'
