There are many Biblical reasons why the Sabbath day can be no other day than the 7th day, which is our Saturday today. Those reasons have been shared on this website previously, which you can see via the links at the bottom of the page. But on this page we want to share another reason why the Sabbath cannot be any other day than the 7th, our Saturday, and that is to do with the divine timeline for this earth.

Why is this issue important? Because by being obedient to God's Word and keeping His true Sabbath rest, we are showing that we are depending upon God for salvation and have entered into His eternal rest through Christ. But by disobeying and keeping another day, we are seeking to be saved our OWN way and by our OWN works, and as you know, this will save no one!

Many Christians, whether 7th day Sabbath keepers or 1st day keepers, acknowledge the 6000 year timeline for this earth, which you can see in the picture above. Just as God said we shall work for six days and then the 7th day is to be a Sabbath of rest, and land was to be worked for 6 years and the 7th year was to be a sabbath rest for the land, so also this world was to be worked for 6000 years and then the 1000 year millennium is to be a "sabbath rest" for the earth before God renews it with fire. The symbolism is so clear that it is difficult to go against it. This is God's divine plan for the earth.

2 Peter 3:8 ...'But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.'

Isaiah 46:9-10 says that God "declares the end from the beginning." God knew that sin would come in. He knew the time that His Son would come to earth, which is why we have the time prophecies stating the coming of the Messiah, like the 70 week prophecy of Daniel, and God also knew the time He would allot for this world to be 'worked' before Jesus would come a second time to bring it to an end. The 7 day weekly cycle matches with God's timeline plan for this world, remembering the "day as a thousand years" principle. Take a look at the following examples.

The Israelites march around the city for 6 days and then 'ascend up' into the city on the 7th day - Joshua 6:2-5 ...'And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour. And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.'

Moses waits on Mount Sinai for six days and then God speaks on the 7th day to Moses - Exodus 24:16 ...'And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.'

Jesus takes Peter, James and John up a high mountain to be transfigured after six days - Mark 9:2 ...'And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.'

Do you see the symbolism here regarding God's people 'ascending up' after 6 days? And remember, to God one day is as a thousand years. So this is pointing to the fact that God would prepare His people and reach this world through His people for 6000 years and then Jesus would return to take His church to be with Him in heaven for the 1000 year millennial 'rest.' And for those who believe the 1000 year millennium will be spent on earth, please see our page - 1000 YEAR MILLENNIAL REIGN.

So what does this have to do with the weekly 7th day Sabbath? How does this in any way prove that the Sabbath can be on no other day than the 7th day, our Saturday? Well, have another look at the picture above and you will see how God has ordered it. He set up the weekly cycle of 6 working days that matches the 6000 years of work for this world and then the 1000 year millennium rest at the end of the world to match the 7th day Sabbath at the end of the working week. Do you see it?

The world is worked for 6000 years and then to rest the 7000th at the END of the world.

We are to work 6 days and then rest on the 7th at the END of the week.

But what happens if you change the Sabbath day to the first day, or any other day? It messes up the whole divine plan of God! This proves, along with all the other evidence you can see in the links below, that the Sabbath day cannot be on any other day than at the end of the week, the 7th day, which is our Saturday today (see our page HERE about the calendar change). Those who reject the 7th day Sabbath and seek to CHANGE God's divine Word and plan, need to heed the following words:

Ecclesiastes 3:14 ...'I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.'

God established the 7th day Sabbath at creation BEFORE there was any sin and BEFORE there were any Jews. Jesus confirmed that the Sabbath was "MADE FOR man." (Mark 2:27). It wasn't made for the Jews, nor was it made for sinners. The Sabbath was made FOR ALL MANKIND, including Adam and Eve before they sinned. The 7th day is the only day that has ever been blessed and sanctified by God for holy use. No other day, including the 1st day, has ever been specifically set aside by God for holy use. There is not one word or command in the whole of the Bible that changes or does away with the weekly Sabbath. Yes, there are misunderstandings about the apostles simply having some meetings on the first day of the week, and Acts 2:46 confirms this confusion because it says the followers of Christ met DAILY from house to house. But the 7th day Sabbath was STILL the Sabbath, as Acts 16:13 confirms.

Friends, take a good look again at the 6000 year plan of God. It shows that the Sabbath rest of God cannot be changed to any other day. God has fixed His plan in place and no man can add anything to it, or take anything away from it. It stands fast, and the only thing we should be seeking to do, is OBEY! Will you turn from the traditions of man and seek instead to obey God's Word? Below you will find much more evidence that the 7th day, our Saturday, is the true Holy Sabbath rest of God.

Remember, keeping God's holy 7th day Sabbath is a sign that we have entered God's eternal rest and are depending upon Him through Christ. But by keeping another day, we are seeking to be saved our own way, and by our own works, and as you know, that will never save anyone.
