Jim Caviezel says Mary is 'Co-Redemptrix'
"The Passion Film depicts Mary as 'Co-redemptrix'"
The 'Passion of the Christ' actor Jim Caviezel, a devout Roman Catholic, recently delivered a speech at the "Eucharistic Holy Hour for World Peace Through the Mother of All Peoples" in Amsterdam. In this speech, he outlined how the popular Mel Gibson film, which was embraced by evangelicals and Catholics alike - depicts Mary's role as co-redemptrix with Jesus. He said:
"The Passion reveals the obvious biblical truth that Mary, like no other, shared in that suffering of Jesus Christ, as 'Co-redemptrix.' As St. Teresa of Calcutta exclaimed, 'Of course, Mary is the Co-redemptrix. She gave Jesus his body, and the offering of his body is what saved us. The scenes of The Passion profoundly depict Our Lady's role as Co-redemptrix with Jesus. In fact, a well-known Italian journalist stated that The Passion of the Christ could also have been justifiably called, 'The Story of Mary Co-redemptrix" (source and here)
Jim Caviezel even goes on to say that Mary is the 'Advocate' for all humanity and says that it is his hope that Pope Francis will proclaim Mary as 'co-redemptrix.'
"And it is true that Mary is the Co-redemptrix, Mediatrix of all graces, and Advocate for all humanity! It is my hope and prayer that the Pope will proclaim this truth as a Marian dogma, so that every single living human being will know that they have a spiritual Mother that loves them, and who will intercede to bring them to Jesus, their true Savior!" (source)
This is also supported by official Roman Catholic teaching in their Catechism:
"This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation ... Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix." (Catholic Catechism, 969 source)
Has the Catholic Church changed? Not at all! The same old errors are cherished. And yet even the once 'Protestant' churches are now holding hands and partaking of the 'wine' with that 'Mother of harlots' in this ecumenical movement. But 'can two walk together, except they be agreed?' (Amos 3:3)
So what is the TRUTH? Does Mary really have any role in our salvation? Does she have any role in mediating for us in heaven? Is she our 'Advocate' as Jim Caviezel and the Catholic Church says? What does the Bible REALLY say? Let's take a look:
1 John 2:1-2 ...'My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And HE is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.'
1 Timothy 2:5 ...'For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.'
Who is our Advocate and Mediator? Is there any mention of Mary being our Advocate or 'co-mediator'? No, not at all. Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God is our ONLY Advocate and Mediator with the Father. Christ is the only being in all the universe who could be our Advocate and Mediator, because He is the only being in all the universe who is both divine and human. Mary even confessed herself that she needed a Saviour ... "And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." (Luke 1:46-47). Mary knew she needed a Saviour just like everyone else. So Mary could never be our Advocate or 'co-redeemer', when she needed saving herself!
Romans 8:26,34 ...'Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered ... Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.'
Who is making intercession for us in heaven with the Father? Mary? No! It is Christ and Christ alone who makes intercession for His people. And when Jesus spoke of the Comforter who would come to help us in John 14, He revealed that it would be HIMSELF, through the Spirit, that would come to us, not some other person ... "I will not leave you comfortless, I WILL COME TO YOU ... I will manifest MYSELF to you." (John 14:18,21)
Please see our page WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT to see the truth of Christ being our Comforter.
Who does our salvation come from? Does it come from God, His Son and Mary? No! There is no mention whatsoever from the apostles of Christ who wrote the New Testament many years after Christ's ascension about Mary being any kind of 'co-redeemer.' But wrote plenty about God redeeming us through Christ:
Acts 4:10,12 ...'Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole ... Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.'
John 14:6 ...'Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.'
So what has the Roman Catholic Church done? They have introduced 'another name' whereby we must be saved - Mary! And thus they have rejected the Word of God and also the salvation of God by inventing 'another way' and 'another gospel' to be saved by.
Ephesians 2:5-9 ...'Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.'
Romans 5:1-2 ...'Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.'
1 Peter 3:18 ...'For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.'
As you can clearly see, it is through Christ ALONE that we gain access to God the Father. It is through Christ ALONE that we are saved. It is Christ ALONE who is our Mediator and Advocate. So again, the Roman Catholic Church has introduced 'another way' to God, which the scriptures never speak of. There is not even a hint that Mary is the so called 'Mother' of the church. The scriptures confirm that Christ is the 'HEAD' of the church (Colossians 1:18). But the sciptures do speak of a 'Mother' who would reign over the people of the earth - 'the Mother of Harlots.' Revelation 17 tells us of a woman who would deceive the world into drinking of her 'wine' (false teachings). A woman who would 'fornicate' with the kings of the earth. That woman is none other than the Roman Catholic Church. And her 'daughters', the fallen Protestant churches are now partaking of her 'wine.'
There is no doubt that Satan is using films and the television to subtly indoctrinate the world into accepting a false gospel, and the apostle Paul warned us about turning from the truth that is in Christ to another gospel, saying that it is an 'accursed' thing:
Galatians 1:6-9 ...'I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.'
Catholics and other churches need to learn the truth that when God's people die, they REMAIN in their graves until the second coming of Christ and resurrection. And that includes Mary. There is no evidence to suggest that she was taken to heaven. Therefore we MUST conclude that she is in her grave awaiting the return of her SAVIOUR. This TRUTH, when accepted, stops people from accepting false teachings like the one being proclaimed in this report.
