JEZEBEL, HERODIAS' DAUGHTER AND THE COMING PERSECUTION FROM THE HARLOT CHURCHES FOR THOSE WHO GIVE THE ELIJAH MESSAGE

There is an amazing connection and typology in the Bible between Jezebel and Elijah, Herodias with her daughter and John the Baptist, and also the final harlot churches and God's remnant people. What has taken place in the past will take place again in the near future. And it is my prayer that through this study, you will gain a deeper understanding of what is coming, which will encourage you to prepare for it through faith, obedience and surrender of life to Jesus Christ.

There are two amazing connections which I want to show you. The first connection is between Jezebel and Elijah with the Roman Catholic Church and God's people in the wilderness in the dark ages. The second connection is between Herodias, her daughter and John the Baptist with the Roman Catholic Church, her apostate daughter churches and God's remnant in the last days.

So let us start with Jezebel and Elijah. As we know from the Biblical record, Ahab the king of Israel married Jezebel (1 Kings 16:31), who according to 2 Kings 9:22 was into idolatry and witchcraft. Not only did Jezebel worship a false god in Baal, she also deceived God's people into worshipping a false god.

1 Kings 16:31 ...'And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.'

1 Kings 18:4 ...'For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water ... Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.'

So what did Jezebel cause Ahab and Israel to do? Worship a false god! Remember that point! Jezebel refused to worship the one true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Acts 3:13, John 17:3) and deceived God's people into worshipping a false god. She got rid of Jehovah's prophets and replaced them with the prophets of Baal! Then comes Elijah to give the warning from God:

1 Kings 18:17-18 ...'And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed Baalim.'

1 Kings 18:21 ...'And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him.'

What were the people of Israel doing in worshipping the false god which Jezebel deceived them into worshipping and also the idols of Ahab? They were forsaking the commandments of Jehovah. They had turned away from the one true God and were deceived into worshipping a false god. But Jezebel didn't only deceive them into worshipping her false god, she forced them into it. And what happened to the land of Israel as a result? It did not rain for three and a half years, during which time Elijah fled into the wilderness (1 Kings 17:1-7, James 5:17). Three and a half years is 1260 days. So was this a typology for a future prophecy and event which was to take place? Yes!

Remember! A woman in the Bible, especially in prophecy, is a symbol of God's professed people (2 Cor.11:2, Isaiah 62:5).

In Daniel 7 we learn about the 'little horn' power, which was the Papal Church of Rome and how she not only deceived the world into worshipping her false trinity god, false Sabbath and idols, but forced the world by urging the 'king' (the state powers) to persecute anyone who would not bow to her god or idols. The Catholic Church believed it had power, alongside the 'king' (the state), just like Jezebel, to order people to worship according to her own dictates. This took place for 1260 years (1260 prophetic days) between 538AD to 1798AD. The Roman Catholic Church persecuted and killed God's true people, just like Jezebel did and installed her priests in place of God's true people, again just like Jezebel. And just like Elijah, God's people were driven into the wilderness during the 1260 year reign of the Papal Church of Rome.

Now notice what Jezebel used in her deceptive tactics regarding Naboth:

1 Kings 21:8-10 ...'So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth. And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: and set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.'

Did you see what she did? She expertly used 'religion' to achieve her goal by 'proclaiming a fast' and she turns it around upon Naboth, a true man of God, proclaiming that he was the one who blasphemed God! The exact tactics of the Roman Catholic Church and her harlot daughters!

So now we come to Herodias and her daughter in the New Testament. Herodias was in an adulterous relationship with king Herod, again a picture of church and state in fornication with each other, as the Bible tells us that a woman is a symbol of God's church (2 Cor.11:2, Isaiah 62:5). We all know how John the Baptist warned Herod that he was in an unlawful relationship with Herodias. Now we are told that John the Baptist preached in the 'spirit of Elijah' (Luke 1:17), and what does preaching in the spirit of Elijah, giving the Elijah message to the people do? It stirs up those living in sin to rise up against the people giving the message. Remember what king Ahab called Elijah? A 'troubler of Israel' (1 Kings 18:17).

What do the churches call those of us today who are giving the Elijah message of repentence from false gods and to turn to the one true God? 'Troublers', causing 'division among God's people', just like Ahab and Jezebel accused Elijah.

But back to Herodias. Was it the king (the state) that reacted in a bad way to John's warning and sought to kill him? No, it was Herodias. But did Herodias issue a direct command to have John the Baptist killed, just like Jezebel issued direct commands? No, this time the 'mother' used her daughter to deceive the king (the state) into killing God's servant.

Matthew 14:3-8 ...'For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife. For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her. And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.'

Oh how fair and beautiful was Herodias' daughter dancing before the king! Oh how fair and beautiful are the Evangelical leaders and churches dancing before the President!

This is very interesting friends and we have a type here that mirrors what is going to happen in the last days to those of us who preach in the 'spirit of Elijah.' In the days of Elijah himself, it was the 'mother' (Jezebel) who issued the direct orders for the king (the state) to kill God's servants. This was a type of the Roman Catholic Church (the 'mother' - Rev.17) giving direct orders to the state during her 1260 year reign between 538AD - 1798AD to kill God's servants who would not bow to her false god and idols and false teachings. But in the days of John the Baptist who preached in the 'spirit of Elijah', it wasn't the mother who gave the direct order to the state to kill God's servant, as the mother used her daughter to deceive the state into killing God's servant!

So how does this mirror what is going to happen in the last days? Well, in Revelation 17, we have a harlot riding a beast. In verse 5 she is called the 'MOTHER OF HARLOTS.' Which means she has DAUGHTERS. That mother is none other than the Roman Catholic Church. You can see the evidence for this on our page WHO IS THE WHORE OF BABYLON? This picture of Revelation 17 shows us that this church is in an unlawful relationship with the 'king' (the state). She is 'fornicating' with the 'kings of the earth.' And history shows how the Roman Catholic Church controlled the state during her 1260 year reign of terror, persecuting God's people. Now Revelation 17 is simply an expanded view of the first beast of Revelation 13, which is Papal Rome in an unlawful relationship with the state. See our page WHO IS THE 7 HEADED BEAST.

But there is another beast in Revelation 13. This beast is none other than the United States of America. Again, you can see the evidence for this on our page AMERICA IN BIBLE PROPHECY. And what does this second beast do? We are told it makes an IMAGE of the first beast. So America was prophesied to make an image of the Papal Church of Rome. This image would be the uniting of church and state in an unlawful relationship, with the church controlling the state. But is it the 'mother' directly controlling the state this time? No. The mother is using her DAUGHTERS to deceive the 'king.' Those daughters are the apostate Protestant/Evangelical churches who are fornicating with the state. And what did Revelation 17 warn concerning this fornication?

Revelation 17:1-3 ...'And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.'

The world, especially the churches have been made 'drunk' through this fornication with the state powers. Just look at what is going on in America with the majority of professed Christians and church leaders deeply involved in politics, seeking to gain control of the Whitehouse through the President. This unlawful relationship with the state is merely an outcome of the apostate churches being 'drunk' from their 'mother', the Roman Catholic Church. And what is the mother going to do in the last days? Just as Herodias used her daughter to deceive the king into killing God's servant, the Roman Catholic Church is going to use her 'daughters', the apostate Protestant\Evangelical churches to deceive the 'king' (the state) into persecuting God's people who are giving the final warning to the world in the 'spirit of Elijah.' Just as Herodias used her daughter to deceive the king into killing John the Baptist for preaching in the 'spirit of Elijah.'

The end time message that God's remnant is giving in the 'spirit of Elijah' is the 4th angel of Revelation 18, united with the 3 angels of Revelation 14. It is a message that Babylon is fallen - the world's churches are fallen. It is a message of turning away from false gods like the trinity god of Rome and turning to the one true God the Father and His only begotten Son. But just as the message of Elijah and John the Baptist caused the fury of Jezebel and Herodias, the message given by God's end time remnant is going to cause the fury of the apostate churches and the call will go out to 'kill' those who do not worship the image of the beast (Revelation 13:15).

It is amazing that many professed Christians believe the state is the true enemy and are seeking to gain control over it. But they have simply been made 'drunk' with the wine of fornication of the Roman Church. What have we learned from Jezebel, Herodias and her daughter? That it is the apostate 'mother' (Roman Catholic Church) and her 'daughter' (apostate Protestant churches) who is the TRUE enemy of God's people. And because they HATE those who preach the truth in the spirit of Elijah, they will urge the state to persecute God's people, just as Herodias used her daughter to deceive the king into killing God's servant!

But fear not brethren, as we serve the living and true God Jehovah, Creator of heaven and earth and we follow His Son Jesus, who is 'king of kings.' And not one hair on your head can be touched without your heavenly Father's say so. So let us go forward in the spirit and power of Elijah, proclaiming the truth and sounding the final warning to the world, preparing people for the soon return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

2 Timothy 1:7-8 ...'For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God.'

Isaiah 26:3-4 ...'Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.'

Exodus 14:13-14 ...'And Moses said unto the people, fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.'

2 Chronicles 20:17 ...'Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you.'
